La Bratta Nebbiolo Blend

Cedar, spice, brambly fruit. Dark cherry, sage, dried herbs some leafiness and a violet lift. Blackberry, cherry, some sappiness. Firm, granular and grippy tannins, good length, texture and mouth-feel. Quite pretty, mid-weighted, savoury and long flavours.

50/45/5% cabernet franc/merlot/nebbiolo. Each of the varieties can be isolated on the nose: rose petals and tar from the nebbiolo, leaf and cassis crunch from the franc, and a bedrock of fine, dusty cocoa from the merlot. In the mouth, this is dry and dusty, and although the fruit brings a flash of purity to the middle palate, it is cloistered by campfire tannins that suffocate the fruit. The medium weight is a positive attribute, the profusion of tannin and oak a detractor.
