This does have a small amount of cabernet sauvignon included to provide a little spine and backbone definition. It’s medium-bodied with an impressive depth of fruit. There’s a leafy red berry nuance merging with lifted blackcurrant nuance. It is a pretty serious expression of this variety with 18 months spent in new and seasoned French oak.

It says cabernet franc, but there is 14% cabernet sauvignon also in the mix. While the colour seems forward, the wine’s lovely and rather composed. Smells of ironstone, small red berries and currants, spicy, a little tangy and very textural. Medium bodied, the supple tannins come with some hazelnut skin grip, and the finish is just a tad short, but a highly enjoyable drink.

Cabernet Franc fermented in open top fermenters and Cabernet Sauvignon in static fermenters - Pumped over thrice daily for 15 days. Each component spent 14 months in 30% new and balance in two to three year old French oak barriques.
The La Bratta Rosso displays bright violets, blackcurrant and plum with spicy undertones. A complex, savoury and rich style that is full bodied with a very ripe and fine tannin structure. Flavours of blackcurrant and underlying dark cocoa are pronounced. A long, persistent and intriguing wine that is drinking beautifully now but will reward patience.
