La Bratta Bianco

Medium to full yellow colour. The bouquet is nutty, toasty and spicy, with definite oak touches as well as bottle-aged development. Snowpeas beneath. The wine is again intense and spicy, rich and powerful, loaded with flavour, albeit somewhat oak-heavy in its balance. A smart wine of its style, although it must be said the oak is full-on.

A wine that brought goose-bumps due to my unabashed love of fine white Bordeaux! This is a stunning assemblage of Bordeaux's white varieties with semillon leading the way, 40% barrel-fermented and aged for 6 months in 10% new. A cheeky dash of chardonnay, too, to provide some mitigating fill to the herbal scents and racy acidity. Either way, it works brilliantly! This is a tour de force of winemaking, underlain by a profound love and understanding of the fruit and its origins. Waxy, creamy; redolent of candied quince and pungent lemon oil. Textural. Compelling. Superb wine!

This wine is released with a little age on it and helps bring things together. It's a blend of semillon, sauvignon blanc, with some southern Margs chardonnay for richness. Gets a little oak treatment.It adds up to a full bodied, vibrant wine displaying a mix of primary fruit and oak-induced complexity. Even an extra year has seen this wine move up a notch or two.
