At the time of tasting, this was still a year away from its release, yet ready to go. It wants to strut its regional stuff now. The mulberries, the cassis, the whiff of the ocean and the beautiful fine tannins. It spends 22 months in French oak, percentage of new and size not mentioned, although the wine has taken everything in (even if it would have perhaps a tad more vitality with less time in oak). Still, this has elegance and delights as a result.

Offering wonderful fruit purity with seductive complexity, the wine shows blackcurrant, cedar, roast meat and rich floral aromas with a touch of tobacco. The palate displays excellent concentration and weight, beautifully framed by fine tannins, making it splendidly structured and harmonious. Gorgeously styled and expressed with a persistent, sophisticated finish. At its best: now to 2038.
