Dry grown on 17 yo vines.
The block: Spur pruned (17 rows) and cane pruned (19 rows).
Harvested in two picks to give some complexity and depth of flavour. A combination of open and static fermenters used, with a small portion of whole bunches include in the open fermenter batch. A combination of cultured yeasts used. Ferment temperature allowed to reach 30 deg C. Following fermentation, the open fermenter batch was pressed after a further 7 days on skins, while the static fermenter spent 15 days on skins post fermentation. Mlf allowed to complete in tank, then the wine was transferred to barrel in its separate batches. Oak used was all 225 litre French barriques, from Bordelaise Tonnellerie; 30% new. The wine spends 2 years in these barrels to allow the oak to integrate, and the wines tannins to soften.
A classic combination of intensity, structure, focus, generous flavours, yet retaining finesse and elegance.

"Balance is the hallmark of this lovely cabernet from Arlewood. Soft red fruits with good composure and restraint. The palate is beautifully medium-bodied with the tannins and acidity in perfect balance. A wine that is lovely now, though it will inevitably improve with cellaring."
