We have long believed that the best fruit for our wine style would come from south of Margaret River.

So in 2009, we acquired an established vineyard in Forest Grove, 10 minutes south of the Margaret River Township, and made the move from Wilyabrup. The Forest Grove Estate is now Arlewood HQ.

It’s much cooler down here, and we kind of like the isolation. No banjos though, just lots of guitars. Far enough out of town to appreciate the short drive, but still dead easy to find us. We’ve always done things a little differently, so setting up camp and the challenge of further developing the property here is part of that.

I live here on the property, and enjoy working the vineyard. Russell Oates oversees the vineyard with me and has done so since we established our first vineyard in 1994 and acquired the original Arlewood vineyard in 1999. Terry Chellappah has been with us on and off since 1999 too, and has the plum job of selling the wine, and seeing to the day to day operations.

The new hand is Bill Crappsley – a legend in winemaking whose been looking after our wines since the 2009 harvest. No frills, no job titles, no corporate mantra; all in all a pretty tight team with help from Kim, Jamie and Lynne in our tasting room.

Come and visit us, we’d love to stop and have a drink, a yarn and sell you some wines.

Open every Saturday from 11am to 5pm or, by appointment.
